Topic of Discussion -- Overcoming the Daily Grind
Thank you to all of the ladies that came out on Saturday for the kickoff event for the Women’s Enrichment Ministry. Thanks Brittany for hosting this meeting and also, thanks to everyone who brought some goodies and coffee items. We had a lot of fun and we certainly missed each of you that were not able to attend. A couple of quick items: 1. Please let me know if you are up for hosting our movie night in March. 2. Please let me know if you do not want your picture on the internet. I would like to use the photos from the meeting on our website. Lori can upload them so that we can all look at them. I look forward to the next session already. I wanted to update everyone on the events of the day to keep you informed and give you the opportunity to get involved.Discussion:
Ministry Goals • Personal Spiritual Growth • Community Service • Encouraging Others • Friendship/Fellowship •Survey Reveals Meet once a month- a few would like once a quarter, so I will alternate between meetings and outings for those who would like to attend less frequently that way you can attend which function you prefer. • Your needs match my ministry goals • Would like to meet again on a Friday night at the end of March for “Movie Night” • A lot of interest shown in Outreach, Prayer Ministry, Visitation Ministry and Encouragement Ministry- Asked for volunteers to head up each ministry.Outreach-Food Preparation
• Leader is Mrs. Dot Britt and the Assistant is Nancy Coston This is for families where the parent is sick or has had surgery. (Other situations may apply) NOTE: When there has been a death in the family, that requires a lot more food than our group can prepare, and falls under the fellowship committee for church wide assistance. Please e-mail Mrs. Dot at dotbritt@bellsouth.net if you would like to be included in the food preparation.Outreach-Angel Food Ministries
• Leader is __________________ This ministry is one that supplies food for those in need. The ministry provides food boxes that allow a family to buy a week’s worth of food ($65.00 value) for $30.00. This is first quality food and is a great deal. There are not limitations or requirements and they take food stamps. I would live for your church to be a host site. This would require taking orders and receiving the money from the family. Ordering, receiving the goods, separating into the family boxes, distributing to families at our fellowship hall as they arrive. I have a DVD with more information that will be shown at the next meeting. (Date to be announced)Outreach – Project Linus
• Leader is __________________ This is a ministry that makes blankets and afghans for children from birth to age 18 who are critically ill or traumatized. We would get together as a group and make blankets. Asked everyone to check on the website at www.projectlinus.org to see if we are interested and what patterns they prefer.Prayer Ministry
• Leader is Brittany Devane and the Assistant is Jill Price This is for genuine prayer needs of anyone you would like for us to pray for. We discussed what makes a request “gossip” and what makes it a request. Everyone who signs up will receive an e-mail for requests. You may e-mail your requests to bddavis47@yahoo.com and she will forward the request to everyone who has signed up for the prayer ministry. Please be faithful in your prayer service as these families need your prayers.Encouragement Ministry
• Leader is Lenora Coston This is a card ministry that the ladies ministry will use to encourage our brothers and sisters in Christ. If you feel that a card would brighten someone’s day, or maybe you haven’t seen _____ at church lately. Let Lenora know and she will send them a card from the ladies ministry letting them know that we were thinking of them. You may e-mail your requests to lcoston5606@yahoo.com, please include an address.Visitation Ministry
